How it works:
In this class I will show you how to use tissue paper and acrylic paint to create a set of small landscape paintings you can frame and hang in your home. They will represent your connection to a special place in nature.
Bring a few nature photos for reference—I’ll provide all other materials!
This class is perfect for both beginners and experienced artists looking to try something new. It's a unique, hands-on process. No drawing skills required. The technique is simple, but the results are complex and rewarding.
What you will learn:
A fun and playful way to approach landscape landscape painting. Instruction will focus on color harmony, design, composition choices, media technique and how to incorporate your experience of the land into the painting.
Great for all levels of artistic experience:
This is a great class for beginners because the approach is not intimidating. Also, if you don't know how to draw, who cares! You don't need to draw. For advanced painters, I have DOZENS of shades of tissue paper so layering the colors is a rich experience. And if you are an artist who gets distracted by details, and yearns to loosen up, or wants to learn more about color, this will be a great creative activity for you too.
What’s Included:
- Three and a half hours of class time including instruction and one-on one time.
- Three small stretched canvases (6 x 6, 6 x 8 and 6 x 12) to make your art, plus all art making materials.
- A variety of sweet and savory snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic) Probably not enough for lunch, but enough to keep you going.
What to Bring:
- An open mind and a good attitude (so corny, but true!)
- Sunblock or a hat or sunglasses (this class is outside, in the shade)
Fun Side Notes:
- Ages 12 and up, beginners welcome!
- This class is offered outdoors, in the shade. It can get to be 80-90 degrees in San Rafael in the summertime, so check the weather ahead of time and dress appropriately.
