I have been visiting and plein air painting in Mendocino for the past fifteen years. It is arguably the best little coastal town in Northern California for plein air painting and I will take you to my favorite spots to paint!
Whats included:
Two days of morning and afternoon painting sessions, from 9am- 4pm with a lunch break in between.
Group lessons and as much one-on-one instruction as time allows.
This is mostly a workshop focusing on techniques and skills. Teaching topics include:
-What do you want to say with your paintings
-How to choose what to paint/building a strong composition
-What colors to put on your palette
-How to use value and to create depth
-When to use which brush
-And probably a lot more. Since there are only six participants, I can really get a sense of what you are into and what you need and teach accordingly.
Important notes:
-You are responsible for transportation, food and lodging as well as bringing your own art materials.
-Once you are enrolled, I will send you an email with a suggested painting supplies list as well as lodging suggestions and other tips to help you prepare for class. If you want to be put in touch with other classmates to share lodging/transportation let me know.
-This is not for you if you are reluctant to bundle up and brave the weather all day. It can be cold and foggy in the summer.
-To maximize your one-on-one time with me, this class will be limited to only six participants. Woo-hoo!
-I will be teaching this class for oil painters. If you do not use oils, and want to paint with acrylic, you may, but you must be comfortable painting with acrylics outside.
