Join me for an intimate two-day painting workshop held at my home studio in the beautiful mountain town of Twain Harte, California. This class is designed for those who want to improve their landscape painting practice in a focused and supportive environment using photos as references.
Space is limited to only 6 participants, so there will be plenty of time with me to chat, ask questions and receive individualized instruction.
Over the course of two full days (9am–4pm with a break for lunch), we’ll explore essential elements of landscape painting—from building strong compositions and developing a color palette.
What You’ll Learn:
* How to choose a subject and start a painting with confidence
* Tips for using reference photos of landscapes effectively in the studio focusing on color and composition
* Exploring inspiration, meaning, and the development of your personal style
What’s Included:
* Two full days of guided instruction in a private, relaxed studio setting
* One-on-one feedback to support your growth as a painter
This workshop is for you if:
* You have an open mind and a willingness to experiment
* You're excited to try new techniques and stretch beyond your usual approach
* You’re more interested in exploration, growth, and generating new ideas than in finishing a single “perfect” painting
What to Bring:
* Your own painting materials (a list of suggested materials will be provided). Please bring whatever type of paint you are most comfortable with - oil or acrylic.
* Lunch, beverages, and any personal items
* Lodging is not included, but I’m happy to offer local recommendations and put classmates in touch with each other to rent a shared space.
Fun Side Notes:
This class is a good fit for all levels. Since there are only six participants, there will be lots of one-on-one instruction time that will fit your needs.
I live in Twain Harte, and this workshop is at my house. If you are from out of town, I will do my best to make you feel at home and set you up to have a great visit. This is the same weekend as the Twain Harte Summer Festival. There will be a lot going on downtown. Live music and vendors. If it is a hot weekend I will likely want to take a dip at the pond, or go to the river to cool off after class. Bring your swimsuit!
I do not want to turn anyone away for lack of funds. If you are struggling to pay we can design a payment plan or talk about other options.
