The First Flowers of Spring

This time of year we celebrate motherhood.
I probably will at some point tell you how awesome my mom is but I don’t want to make this collection all about honoring motherhood in the traditional sense. This collection is dedicated to the moms who may not have kids, but are still moms. The cat moms and dog moms. The moms who take care of sick and sad friends. The moms who make sure you get home safe and love you no matter what.
I also want to say, I know a lot of people who want to be a mom right now, but aren’t or can’t be. And I know a lot of people who miss their moms and wish they could tell them. I see you too.
In February of 2024 I visited my mom in Mendocino and in March I spent time in Tomales Bay and Point Reyes. From those adventures I painted a spring mother's day collection.
"The First Flowers of Spring" - This painting is of Mendocino, right downtown off the bluffs that overlook the ocean. The first flowers out there are usually cabbage flowers. Soft lemon yellow dapples the field.
