Calla Lily Imperfection

Calla Lilies grow all over Mendocino. Out walking, I came upon a patch that was blooming. The blooms were not perfect. Some had been burned by the sun, some were asymmetrical or had holes from insects. But when looking at them up-close they were still gorgeous creations.

Most flowers have flaws, but they are still beautiful. They are still perfect even with their imperfections. And I like to think that is true with all of Mother Nature's creations - which includes me and you. If we include ourselves in the family of natural things, we too are perfect with our imperfections. We can also be beautiful no matter our blemishes. What a freeing thought!

I painted these flowers just as I saw them. They are lovely just the way they are, and we are too.
