ARTIST NOTES: It is just after breakfast. It is crisp and cool. I hear birds chirping in the trees behind me, singing happy songs. I stand among shrubs and dried grasses. The dirt is burnt ochre. Surfers move through the waves far below. Fog iss gathering offshore, trying to make its way toward land, but the sun burns it away, leaving just a soft veil in the distance. Rancho Grande is stretched between me and the ocean, quiet and green. The water sparkles and I whisper, thank you.

As I was moving away from San Francisco, I wanted to capture the beauty of the view from my hilltop flat. I'd fallen in love with Liana's work when I'd seen it years earlier, and I knew she was who I wanted to bring that vision to life. Luckily for me she said yes. It was in the height of the pandemic so we did a video call, and I gave her the tour and shared some pictures. She turned that into a beautiful reincarnation of that gorgeous vista that I can now look at every day, even though I've moved thousands of miles away. She was amazing to work with and knew exactly what to do to bring three dimensions to life on canvas. Liana did such an amazing job. Every time I look at that painting I really feel like I'm back home in my apartment in the trees.
I am lucky to have two beautiful pieces from Liana in my home. One is a small painting that offers a much sought after anchor point for resetting in my office to clear my mind from the chaos and stress of work with texture, color and richness. The second is a gorgeous print above my bed that provides engaging and calming colors and reminds me of the landscapes I grew up around in Marin. Liana's art effortlessly captures the color, beauty, and calm of the northern California coast and hills. I've admired and followed her work for a long time, and now proudly hang two of her pieces in my home. They have become some of my most loved possessions. Working with Liana to select and order the pieces was so enjoyable. She was collaborative, answering all my questions and providing more pictures at my request.
