Learning to Count, Big Sur / 30 x 40 / Oil on Canvas

Regular price $2,800.00 USD

Original Oil Painting of the Pacific Ocean by Liana Steinmetz

ABOUT THE VIEW: Naming this painting was easy. Ocean waves make me think of breathing and meditation. When seeing this painting I imagine watching the waves roll ashore one by one – you can almost hear your breath synchronize with the waves as if both were taking deep breaths at the same time. But meditation is difficult and your mind wanders. So you have to start over and over. The waves are new. The breaths are new. You have to start at one over and over. It’s like learning to count.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I also named it this because of the colors. They’re so bright and playful - the primary colors, yellows, blues, and pinks, take my mind to a time of gleeful happiness, like childhood. This painting is a view of the ocean inspired by Pardington Cove, a beach in Big Sur, California.

Packed with Care

Making sure your painting arrives safely is one of the most important parts of my business. I use bubble wrap, newspaper, and honeycomb packing paper to make sure your painting stays in perfect condition along its journey.

I feel strongly about creating as little waste as possible so I reuse packing materials whenever I can, but they will always protect your paintings with maximum care. Your painting may come in a reused box and/or with gently used bubble wrap or paper.

Framed Originals

Except for my small paintings, most original paintings come unframed. For those, the sides are painted as a continuation of the painting, so they look finished and beautiful to hang without a frame.

Want to Add a Frame?

If you prefer a frame, I can make that happen for a reasonable fee. Contact me and I can help you choose a frame to go with your piece. The frame will be custom made from hardwood, so it will add about a three to four weeks to your order. My favorite style of frame is a walnut or maple float, which means there is air space between the painting and the frame.
