June Connection Burst, Mount Tam / 24 x 36 / Oil on Canvas
Original Oil Landscape of Mount Tamalpais at Trojan Point looking toward the East Bay, by Liana Steinmetz
ARTIST NOTES: This was painted plein air on Mount Tamalpais at Trojan Point. I am looking East, past Mill Valley and Angel Island at the East Bay. Mont Diablo are the two peaks in the back.
I think I am in the middle of a personal spiritual expansion, or existence awareness, or I don’t know what to call it. But I had a day dream while meditating recently that helped me feel so clearly that we are not just connected, but together, like one. All of us. One same consciousness. I know, oh gosh, that sounds so cliche. I am cringing as I write this. But the idea is that before we are born and after we die we are all mushed together. Everything is shared. Everything is love. And then when we come to earth, we experience life here as separate. But really, underneath our lives, we are all the same essence.
This painting relates to that idea. The lines in the sky connect the earth (here, this life, now) and the atmosphere (after and before life). The known and the unknown touching and connected.
(The lines in the sky happened on their own. Meaning, they were in my spontaneous underpainting and when I painted the sky, the lines were already there and making a story. I didn’t make a choice to add them, but to keep them. Sometimes this happens - the painting paints itself. I just follow the path of least resistance.)

Enhance your original painting with a high-quality hardwood floating frame:
Crafted from beautiful hardwood, this frame adds 2/3" to each side of your artwork, giving it a sleek, finished look. The floating frame design creates the illusion that your artwork is floating in the center, with a small space between the piece and the frame. This modern, gallery-like appearance not only enhances depth but also protects the edges of your artwork. Choose between two elegant hardwood options: Blonde Maple or Dark Walnut. Made in the USA.
Shipping is $100 in the US and $200 to Canada. For international shipping, contact me directly and we will work it out.

Packed with Care
Making sure your painting arrives safely is one of the most important parts of my business. I use bubble wrap, newspaper, and honeycomb packing paper to make sure your painting stays in perfect condition along its journey.
I feel strongly about creating as little waste as possible so I reuse packing materials whenever I can, but they will always protect your paintings with maximum care. Your painting may come in a reused box and/or with gently used bubble wrap or paper.
Framed Originals
Except for my small paintings, most original paintings come unframed. For those, the sides are painted as a continuation of the painting, so they look finished and beautiful to hang without a frame.
Want to Add a Frame?
If you prefer a frame, I can make that happen for a reasonable fee. Contact me and I can help you choose a frame to go with your piece. The frame will be custom made from hardwood, so it will add about a three to four weeks to your order. My favorite style of frame is a walnut or maple float, which means there is air space between the painting and the frame.

We love the painting Liana commissioned for our personal home! She was wonderful to work with from communication to the execution of the piece. As an interior designer, I have never been so pleased with a commission and so grateful this piece gets to live with us forever!

Liana has such a distinctive method of mark-making and a rich unique pallet that imbues her scenes with much personality, feeling, and aliveness. I fell in love with her scenes instantly, feeling the beauty of the California landscape captured and translated into affection and joy for place.

We have 8 gorgeous prints of Liana's decorating an addition to our house we rent on Airbnb and I can't tell you how often they are complimented and guests ask us about the artist. I find it impossible to look at one of her paintings without feeling wonder and joy for our beautiful corner of the world.
