Learning to Count / 40 x 30 / Oil on Canvas
Original Oil Seascape of the Pacific Ocean at Big Sur by Liana Steinmetz
ARTIST NOTES: Naming this painting was easy. Ocean waves make me think of breathing and meditation. When seeing this painting I imagine watching the waves roll ashore one by one – you can almost hear your breath synchronize with the waves as if both were taking deep breaths at the same time. But meditation is difficult and your mind wanders. So you have to start over and over. The waves are new. The breaths are new. You have to start at one over and over. It’s like learning to count.
