Stinson to Muir - Notes About the Collection

September 22, 2025

This summer was a blur of family time, teaching, traveling, and finding moments to paint between summer days and adventures with my son. Even with a busy schedule, I found inspiration in one of my favorite places — the stretch of California coastline between Muir Beach and Stinson Beach — and slowly a new body of work came into focus.

Many of these paintings began plein air, painted directly on location while my son was at summer camp — moments of quiet creativity surrounded by the scent of eucalyptus, salt air, and the rhythm of the waves. This collection celebrates the essence of Marin County’s coastline, from Stinson Beach to Muir Beach, and the connection between family, place, and creative process.

“Stinson to Muir”, a collection of 12 large oil landscape paintings, captures the quiet magic of Northern California’s coast, just north of San Francisco. The drive between Stinson Beach and Muir Beach curves along the backside of Mount Tamalpais, offering some of the most romantic and painterly views imaginable — from misty ridgelines and sunlit hills to the glimmer of the Pacific Ocean below.

Not every painting in this series depicts the ocean directly. Some focus on the rolling hills, winding roads, and tree-lined cliffs that give this region its timeless charm. However, each piece was created to reflect that unmistakable coastal California light and atmosphere. Browse my landscape painting gallery to see what has not sold.
